Brian Hasson is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and has taught at Appalachian State since August 2020. He began teaching in 2018 at Florida Southern College, following a twenty-five year career in public accounting (Deloitte, eight years) and industry (MetLife, startup, other, 17 years.) He is interested primarily in auditing research, particularly in qualitative approaches to investigate auditor skeptical action. His research has been published in the Journal of Accountancy, Internal Auditing, and The Journal of Case Research and Inquiry. Brian is also a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. When not at work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, an Assistant Professor at the Reich College of Education, exploring the High Country, attending App State sporting events, reading, and playing with their dogs, Winnie and Charlie.
