Programs

The keys to our students' success include the following programs and events:

The Junior Year Experience

This is a series of seminars for junior level students that prepare them for entering the internship and permanent employment market in their senior year. The seminars focus on resumé preparation, interview skills, business dress, dining etiquette, and employer expectations for entry-level accountants.

Internships in Accounting

Every spring semester, the majority of accounting students receive academic credit for their participation in full-time, off-campus internships in accounting firms and industry. The majority of these students receive full-time permanent job offers as a result of their internship.

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP)

The Appalachian chapter of this national honorary fraternity in accounting has consistently earned superior chapter status from the national organization over the past twenty five years.

Student Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)/Appalachian Accountants

The Appalachian student chapter of the IMA provides exposure to a wide range of possible careers in accounting.  The chapter also programs activities and speakers to develop professional skills, explore fraud/forensic accounting topics, and learn about managerial accounting in the corporate environment.
