MS, Accounting, Appalachian State UniversityBA , Accounting and Finance, Wofford College CPA in the state of North Carolina, 1991CPA in the state of Tennessee, 2007 Fran Leahy is a Practitioner in Residence in Accounting at Appalachian State University, Hickory Campus since August 2024.  She brings to her classes over thirty years of public accounting experience, along with some internal audit in the healthcare industry.  Fran's experience for the past 10 years has been in the field of Nonprofit tax. She has presented focused tax CPE sessions to both Tennessee and North Carolina Nonprofit conferences and many others.  Fran is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, nonprofit section, the Tennessee Society of CPAs, and the North Carolina Association of CPAs. When not at work, Fran enjoys hiking, backpacking, gardening and spending time with friends and family.  She is also a co-maintainer of 2.4 miles of the Appalachian Trail.  Teaching Principles of Accounting I & II
