Accounting students retain 'superior' status for App State's chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honorary organization

Appalachian State University's Epsilon Kappa chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) — an international honorary organization for financial information students and professionals — has again earned Superior Chapter status.

This recognition for the chapter's performance during the 2021-2022 academic year extends a streak of 30 consecutive years of Superior Chapter status. It’s the 40th time the Epsilon Kappa chapter has received this recognition since the chapter was installed on App State’s campus in 1978.

The honor comes with an award of $500, sponsored by KPMG and the KPMG Foundation.

"Recognition as a Superior Chapter is a significant accomplishment," said Beta Alpha Psi President Kimberly Ellison-Taylor. "Under the leadership of Professor Hasson, the Epsilon Kappa Chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership.”

Recognition as a Superior Chapter is a significant accomplishment... the Epsilon Kappa Chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership.

"It is truly an honor to be involved with the quality group of students in our chapter," said Dr. Hasson. "We are proud of this accomplishment and look forward to continuing to grow the organization and further the legacy of excellence established by our predecessors."

Dr. Hasson said that, during the 2021-2022 academic year, students volunteered for two Principles Dinners, an adopt-a-street cleanup, many hours of volunteering for the Valle Country Fair in Valle Crucis, visited Watauga High School to discuss the accounting major and profession, and provided tutoring services for Principles of Accounting students.
