Martha Ross is a new Lecturer of Accounting at Appalachian State University, teaching Financial Accounting and Survey in Accounting.  Prior to joining Appalachian State this August, Martha was a lecturer at the University of North Texas for over 5 years, teaching Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Audit, and Advanced Accounting.  She was also the Faculty Advisor for the University of North Texas’ Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honors Fraternity.

Martha is an accomplished executive with over 30 years of experience in the field of accounting and finance.  Martha left her long career in industry to pursue her dream to teach at the college level.     

Martha began her career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers.  After leaving public accounting Martha held a variety of roles in accounting and finance in several highly regarded companies including American Airlines, Sabre Holdings, Hostess Brands, and Overhead Door Corporation.  She has led the Accounting, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, and Finance functions throughout her time in industry.

As an advocate for the empowerment and leadership development of girls she is a previous board member and former Audit Committee Chairman for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, one of the largest Girl Scout Councils in the country.   She is also the former Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Dysautonomia Support Network, a national non-profit organization working to provide support, resources, education, and advocacy for patients affected by the many forms of Dysautonomia and related conditions. 

Martha obtained her MBA from the University of Texas in Arlington and her BS in Accounting from Oklahoma State University.  She is also a CPA, licensed in the state of Oklahoma.  She is a member of the American Society of CPA’s.

Martha and her husband, Kimble, recently moved to Boone, North Carolina after visiting and enjoying the area for many years.  They have a daughter, Jacqui, who is also a CPA and is currently working with KPMG in Munich, Germany.
