Brian Hasson is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and has taught at Appalachian State since August 2020. He began teaching in 2018 at Florida Southern College, following a twenty-five year career in public accounting (Deloitte, eight years) and industry (MetLife, startup, other, 17 years.) He is interested primarily in auditing research, particularly in qualitative approaches to investigate auditor skeptical action. His research has been published in the Journal of Accountancy, Issues in Accounting Education, Internal Auditing, and The Journal of Case Research and Inquiry.  Brian is also a member of the American Accounting Association, Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma and is the Faculty Advisor for the Beta Alpha Psi chapter on campus. When not at work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, an Associate Professor at the Reich College of Education, exploring the High Country, attending App State sporting events, listening to music, reading, and playing with their dogs, Winnie and Charlie.
